Layce and Ally (and Riley who wouldn't leave)
Layce and Ally became fast friends and were so sad to leave each other. Riley just wanted to be in the picture (we'll let him since it's rare!!)
We got to spend two wonderful weeks with Grandma and Grandpa Mortensen and all the cousins!! Aside from the terrible drive, we had a great time!! The kids travel wonderfully, but it's such a long drive, maybe someday I'll learn to fly and buy a plane!! :)
We got to spend time in Safford with the cousins, doing Pampered Chef shows, and hair coloring parties. (Our own hair) Uncle Dave thinks we're lunatics since we're too chicken to do any real color changes, only shades different!!The kids had a great time playing with the cousins and swimming in the green pool. They always have a blast when Uncle Dave's the Boss!!
We spent a few days in Alpine at the cabin which is always my favorite. I so want my children to have the wonderful memories of the cabin that I do. It's such a great legacy left by our grandparents!! They've made some remodels since I've been there last, a new floor in the garage, and new beds, in some of the rooms. It's so fun to relax and enjoy the family there. We also had an extended family reunion for the Arvin and Emma Mortensen clan. It's fun to get together and share the stories. I hope we can all get to know each other better and share great reunions in the future!
It's always sad to leave, but we headed out for our long drive home. Stopped in Tucson to buy boots which I was sure would be cheaper there (or not). Then on to Vegas. The kids chose to opt out of the tour of Hoover Dam - If we stopped it would be to late to swim. So we pressed on to Motel 6 - and the pool. The next day was the long day, and the kids kept asking to stop and ride their bikes. Finally, after we left Austin, I told them I'd stop in Battle Mt and let them ride. We got stopped on the road for construction, the flagger told us it would be 30 min. So I let the kids ride on the road through the construction cones. Unfortunately, the batteries on my camera were dead by then, so - no photos!! We finally made it home about 8:30. What a trip!!
It might not have been so bad, if I didn't have to ether the truck, every time I started it. Now we get the grand priviledge of putting new fuel injectors in!! Woo HOO!!
